The Green Salamander (Aneides aeneus) is listed as an endangered species by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife. Green Salamanders are habitat specialists. Moreover, they are restricted to dolomite and sandstone rock outcrops in Adams and Lawrence counties in southern Ohio.

Habitat assessments for Green Salamanders can be performed throughout the year. Visual encounter surveys and construction monitoring should be conducted from April through October when this species is most active.

EDGE’s professional herpetologists, Mr. Aaron Crank and Mr. Tim Brust, are authorized to conduct Green Salamander surveys and habitat assessments within Ohio. Additionally, they have extensive experience surveying this species throughout its range. If evaluating and managing potential disturbances to Green Salamanders is critical to the success of your project, please reach out to Aaron and Tim for #furtherinsight.
